The principle of hair transplantation is to take the permanent hairs from the donor area and relocate them to the balding areas elsewhere on the scalp. The removal and transplantation of hair is a straightforward minor surgical procedure done under local anesthetic. It only takes a few hours to perform. The complex part of hair transplantation is in the artistry required by the surgeon. 
   
Expertise comes from very carefully styling the individual's look according to what is natural to their overall appearance. This may sound easy, but it is the most difficult part of the procedure because of the extreme variations in human nature.
    
Everybody is different. For this reason, every hair transplant will be different. Each and every aspect of an individual's uniqueness must be taken into account down to the finest detail. Everything from hair characteristics (coarseness and color) to the shape of the individual's head and face, to the color of their skin all must be considered. For example, different techniques must be used on an individual with black hair and light skin as opposed to one with blond hair and light skin (a much smaller variation of graft sizes must be used with the darker hair and lighter skin tone). Great skill is required to design and create a natural looking hairline that is correct for the age and shape of your face now, and in the future. 
    
As with any type of art, the artist must choose his working materials carefully. An artist painting on a canvas using multiple colors is able to achieve a much more natural appearance than with only one color. Furthermore, the artist will use different sized paintbrushes to create a much more natural appearance. The same is true with the artist performing a hair transplant. The more varied the size of the grafts moved, the more natural the overall effect.
